Those of us that live and play in Huntington Beach know what a vibrant and active community we have. Our miles of beach-side paths are not just home to weekend joggers. It is also where the Surf City Marathon lives.
This course takes you past the famous Huntington Beach Pier and through the scenic Huntington Beach Central Park. This February 5th, before you camp on the couch to watch the Superbowl, come cheer on 20,000 athletes as they maneuver through some of the best scenery in Southern California. This award-winning course is considered one of the best courses in the country, well-known for being both scenic and flat. Feeling athletic yourself? If the full 26.2 miles is a bit much, there is also the option to run the half marathon. Many marathoners use the Surf City marathon as a qualifier for the prestigious Boston Marathon, held in April. If running isn’t your thing, be one of the 2,000 volunteers that help to make this event go off without a hitch. If you are coming out to watch and cheer the runners on, know that a marathon truly takes a massive effort to organize. This will mean that yes, some streets will be closed. So, plan ahead, car pool or walk/bike.
