Mother’s Day – Get Out of the Brunch Rut

Many of us bring mom flowers and take her out for an overpriced brunch to celebrate Mother’s Day.  This year, let’s do something a bit different, something Mom will remember forever. Here are some ideas for us local to the Huntington Beach area.

Here are a few ideas form Surfcityusa.com

Pacific City Mother’s Day

Celebrate Mom at the newest and trendiest shopping and culinary center in Huntington Beach! Treat mom to a free family photo shoot by Jenna Norman Photography when you present $50 in combined same day receipts from any combination of Pacific City stores and restaurants between April 30 and May 7.

Other fun and free events to celebrate Mom at Pacific City include 10-15 minute chair massages compliments of Equinox, makeup touch ups for Mom by M.A.C. while you wait for your photo to be taken, and a variety of pre-cut wildflower sprigs from Petals & Pop for kids to create a special arrangement for Mom. Don’t miss out on all the fun Mother’s Day events Pacific City has to offer! Enjoy this fun event on Saturday May 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Tommy Bahama.

Sunset Beach Art Festival

Held each year on Mother’s Day weekend, over 150 artists gather on the greenbelt and display their wares while local bands and musicians entertain in the community center. Food, a kid’s booth, a beer and wine pavilion ensures that the entire family will have fun at this event! The Firehouse Art Gallery featuring fine art, student-submitted art from 7 local schools, and complimentary appetizers, desserts and champagne, makes this the perfect place to spend Mother’s Day with Mom and buy her the perfect Mother’s Day gift. Bring the entire family and join the fun on May 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

8th Annual Huntington Beach Derby Day

This fun alternative Mother’s Day event and fundraiser is perfect for families who want more than just great food. Bring the entire family for a fun afternoon of BBQ, silent auction, pony rides, kid’s crafts, face painting, and best of all – Clydesdales! Enjoy this fun event on May 7 from 1-6 p.m. at the Huntington Beach Equestrian Center and learn more about the Therapeutic Riding Center’s great cause.
